Or so the saying goes. The first step is one of the most important. Admitting that there's a problem and committing to the work required to fix it. Well today's the day I take that first step. It definitely is a doozy.
For years I have known that my family has had debt. For months I have known just how much debt we have. For the past few weeks I have been tirelessly searching for the best ways to rid ourselves of this burden. Today, I take the first step. Today, my family makes the commitment to make a long overdue lifestyle change. Today we start securing our financial future.
It has taken us years to get to where we are today (which, by the way, is staring at a mountain of debt) and it will take us years to get to where we want to be. It won't happen overnight, but today, we begin.

Have you completed the task of writing down every debt and what you each will do to work through problems since writing it down turn wishes to commitment.
It's so much easier when you've all worked together to write out a budget or cash flow if you prefer a less pejorative term, so that every dollar is assigned a job.
